The road will take you throughout vineyards and olive yards, red plains and green valleys, modest little towns and rich sea resorts. The pearl of our mosaic is Pula and its attraction lays not only in its shop and in factories, but in its ancient past. There is the Roman Amphitheater, the sixths biggest in all over the world. Pula was even then an important centre. There
is also August's Temple, antique City Walls, the Golden Gate and other monuments of the antique past, a local
market that is very interesting, and the biggest one in Istria.
The most important centre of Istria mainland is Pazin; an old town with extremely well preserved medieval
fortress. It is situated above a 10 meters deep cave and it inspired Jules Verne who described it in one of
his novels. Nowadays the Ethnological Museum is placed there and its exhibits tell stories about the life of common Istrian peasant. The last part of our mosaic is a visit to a typical Istrian family. They will offer to the client's home made Istrian wine and cakes, all prepared according to the traditional Istrian receipts. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. (B, D)
